So, this week I have completely ignored my unfinished projects and cast on two new ones. The first is a new pattern which was released this week by Knit Picks. The pattern Absent Friends Shawl by Luise O’Neill (Impeccable Knits) is part of a wonderful collection of cabled patterns in their new book Woodsmoke.

I love shawls knit with worsted weight wool, the heavier fabric is more suited to our climate here in Canada. Great for chilly summer evenings around a campfire or a winter evening on the couch watching TV.
It is knit from side to side and I’ve almost completed the first chart before the increases.
The second project I’ve started is a hat knit with a skein of yarn spun by my daughter Ashley. My granddaughter will love it!
I’m also still knitting on my Halisox occasionally.
The tighter gauge for these socks means I can’t knit for very long on them as my hands ache. I’ve learned the hard way to stop when they first start aching instead of pushing forward! All of these projects will be put on hold later in the month when Luise releases the first clue in her Mystery Knit A Long on the 18th. I just can’t seem to stick to only one project at a time. And that is fine with me.
